CHILDREN'S WORSHIP ARTS

KIDS WORSHIP ARTS (KWA) and

PRESCHOOL WORSHIP ARTS (PWA)

KWA and PWA emphasis for Spring will be fun interactive worship arts. KWA will also focus on worship arts to share in Traditions and the Bridge

PWA is for 3 and 4 year olds.  PWA meets at 6:00 pm in the 3 year old Sunday School Classroom before First Kids Junior Agents (our 3/4 year old Mission Group).

KWA is for Kindergarten—5th Graders.  KWA meets in the WOW Room from 7:00-7:30 pm.

We are excited to have Jennifer Haselden as our new Children’s Worship Arts Director.  Jennifer is a Music Therapy student at the university.  She has been involved in the Church and UMC camp programs all her life.

Please take the opportunity before PWA or after KWA to introduce yourself to Jennifer, so she can get to know her church family here.  It is so helpful to see parents and children together when you are new on staff.

IMPORTANT:  KWA will need a parent helper each week.  First UMC is a “Safe Sanctuary” church, so a parent helper is needed to escort children to the restroom and help with attendance, etc.

If you can help again once a month, please reply to this email or email Jennifer at  jlhaselden@crimson.ua.edu  .  Please reply soon and let Jennifer know which Wed. in February that you can help.  Thanks!!!

Music of the Heart, Music for Life

If I were to ask you what songs you learned as a child you would all probably come up with all kinds of different answers.   My Country ‘Tis of Thee, This Little Light of Mine, Johnny Appleseed, the Star Spangled Banner, Jesus Loves Me…the list would go on and on and I bet any one of you would be able to sing it for me right now.  Music has a way of reaching us at an early age.  Music can stretch to the inner most depths and leave an imprint on our hearts that carries the same power and meaning when we are 8 years old and when we are 80 years old.  I believe that Music and other Fine Arts are some of the best tools for expressing our faith and can bring us closer to a connection with God.  For this reason, it is so very vital that we equip our children with programs that help them profess their faith through art and music.  At FUMCT, we have several ways that you r child can participate in ministries that teach them about faith through music and art and gives them an opportunity to use their gifts in service.

Kids Worship Arts (K.W.A.)

Kid’s Worship Arts is a program offered to kindergarten through fifth grade children interested in singing, acting and dancing.  K.W.A. teaches kids how to express themselves and their love for the Lord.  Rehearsals are held Wednesday nights from 7:00 – 7:30PM.  K.W.A. kids will share their talents with the congregation and community during                                                                   seasonal celebrations throughout the year.

Preschool Worship Arts (P.W.A.) – NEW!!

Preschool Worship Arts is a new program offered to three and four year old children interested in singing, acting and dancing.  Much like K.W.A. for elementary grade children, P.W.A. teaches kids how to express themselves and their love for the Lord through music and art.  Starting Oct. 5, rehearsals will be held Wednesday nights from 6:00 – 6:20PM in room 103.   FirstKids Junior Agents will then meet from  6:20 -7:00PM.

Join us in making music and art an important way we express our faith and our love for God!
