First United Methodist Church
1pm-4pm in the Church Activity Center (the gym)

The First United Methodist Church of Tuscaloosa invites you to walk the prayer labyrinth in remembrance of the tornado event of April 27, 2011. For centuries, Christians have walked the labyrinth as a form of experiential prayer.  The labyrinth is not a maze. There are no dead ends.  In contrast, a prayer labyrinth has one path in and one path out. The labyrinth is in the design of the famous Chartres Cathedral labyrinth in France where it is carved into the stone floor of the sanctuary. The labyrinth design represents the spiritual journey and reminds us that we never more than a breath away from God. Our FUMCT labyrinth is a large, flat sheet of canvas material that contains a path to follow, leading us inward in prayer and communion with God. The labyrinth generally takes about 20 minutes to walk, and will be available for anyone to come and walk.
