UNITED METHODIST WOMEN
ABOUT UNITED METHODIST WOMEN
United Methodist Women is an organized unit of women of all ages whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ and to develop a creative, supportive fellowship through small groups within the unit.
Close to one million members across the United States are committed to mission with emphasis on women, children, and youth.  Nationally, members raise about $20 million a year for missions in the U.S. and in over one hundred countries in the world.  Locally, UMW gives $10,000 + to social service agencies such as Meals on Wheels,  A Woman’s Place, West Alabama Food Bank, Tuscaloosa Children’s Center, Arts ‘n Autism, and Caring Days.
There is opportunity for spiritual growth, prayer, study, development of leadership and nurturing skills, and fellowship.  The local unit of UMW is divided into small groups called “Circles”, most of which meet once a month except during the summer.  Four times a year all members meet together for a program.
Membership in the United Methodist Church is not a requirement to be a member of United Methodist Women.  To learn more, contact Sandra Hicks at 345-0318 or hicksgransan@comcast.net.
