Coming for Session 1: September 1 - October 20, 2010
September 1: Mr. John Croyle of the Big Oak Boys and Girls Ranches will open our fall as he speaks about God’s call on his life to work with at risk children in Alabama. John is a 1974 graduate of The University of Alabama who played football for Coach Bryant, won All American honors, 3 SEC championships, and the 1973 National Championship. He chose to pursue his dream to have the “best children’s home in America” rather than to play pro football. And “Yes,” he also is Brodie’s dad. See below for Children's Ministry activities beginning 9/1.
September 8-October 13: Our focus study for six weeks will be “Start Becoming a Good Samaritan.” This DVD-based small group study “will take you out of your comfort zone and into the mean streets of life.” You will be challenged to find new ways to bring hope and healing through the power of Jesus. The videos feature words from global Christian leaders like Eugene Peterson, Philip Yancey, Kay Warren, Rob Bell, Shane Claiborne, Jim Cymbala, Charles Colson, Joni Eareckson Tada, and more. These groups will be facilitated by some of the persons in our church active in our mission/outreach ministries. Click here for details and to register online for a group. Click here to see additional options for Adults beginning in September.
![]() October 20: Fall WNA! Session 1 will close with a message from Mayor Walt Maddox as he gives us ways to be involved in helping ministries here in Tuscaloosa. Mayor Maddox recently began his second term as Tuscaloosa’s mayor. He received the 2010 North Alabama United Methodist Conference Denman Award for Evangelism for his work with the Tuscaloosa Hope Initiative in our local disadvantaged neighborhoods.
